- Three people were injured after a speeding vehicle careened into a Subway restaurant and a neighboring home in Van Nuys Friday night, and new information from police indicates the driver was an unlicensed teenager.
Preliminary reports indicate the crash happened around 10:30 p.m. on Saticoy Street east of Sepulveda Boulevard. Surveillance footage obtained by KTLA shows the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed before losing control and smashing into the Subway. The car crashed through the restaurant’s outdoor seating area before colliding with a BMW sedan, flipping over into an adjacent driveway and coming to rest on top of four other vehicles, according to initial reports.
KTLA's Rachel Menitoff reports on April 20, 2024.

This is a reflection of BAD PARENTING! The parents should be held accountable too!
This can happen to the best of parents too.
You're underestimating the power of "human's free will!"
Definitely, the parents should be liable for the damages

Parents should be held accountable
Nope Parents can't mind control their kids. A 15 year old has enough conscience to know what's right or wrong.
What's the problem? They have home insurance
they have only parent
Kids do things behind their parents back. So it’s not always parents fault.

"Unlicensed 15 year old". Lol, show me a 15 year old with a licence 🤣🤣🤣
Teenagers in Florida are eligible to get a restricted drivers license when they turn 15 years old. - Been that way since, always. Had my restricted at 15 and got my regular license as soon as I turned 16. womp womp.

How many licensed 15 year-olds are out there?

The minimum is 16 to be behind the wheel, after going to pre driving school etc, with a certain slip, but you need a guardian to drive with you at all times. I forgot the name of it.

Did they really need to say that he's unlicensed? We know he's unlicensed- duh, he's 15.
He could have a restricted license/learner's permit. Would still need someone over 21 in the car with him thought.

"Stealing a car and speeding, crashing into a restaurant and home, is the voice of the unheard."

Where's this kid's parents at? They should charge the parents and charge the kid. Give them 20 years.
Need to handle this like they did in the Old Days.
Why do people think everything back in the day was glittered in gold when it never changed? Actually being that he is a juvenile offender and it’s his first felony he wouldn’t be locked up, he would get a suspended license and house arrest at most this is even if people died, children had the most leniency in courts back then, this is why in some states laws were passed that once you turned 16 you could be tried as an adult depending on the nature of the crime
Was the car stolen ?
From the parents or from someone else? Certainly the 15 year old didn’t own it. And anyone with a car who allowed a 15 year old to drive it unaccompanied by a licensed driver of sufficient age does not deserve to have a car.
“Unlicensed 15 year old” so are you saying there are 15 year olds with licenses too? 😂
Unbelievable😠
I was thinking he ran into an underground sub 😂😂🤣🤣 I was like how the heck did he run into a subway? LOL. I'm glad it was after hours and there were no subway clients sitting outside
I thought the same.
15 year Olds parents: where were the police? Why didn't they stop him? We're going to sue them and the city for letting this happen!
Yeah they have to say “Unlicensed” because driving without a license/permit is a whole other charge just like for Adults

15 year old doing 15 year old knucklehead things😂
Sue the parents
They should start a go fund me for all that damage
I feel bad for the lady. All of those cars of hers are totaled.
This kid will never produce anything good enough in his lifetime to repay the damage he has done not only property damage, but the cost of caring for his injured friends and himself! Because he is 15 he will skate on any serious punishment! Which will lead him to further excess in the future! Think of all the damage he can do in another 15 years and he won't even be close to being done with his larcenous behavior because he will only be 30 years old!
If it wasn't for that bump on the road causing the accident, those kids would have gone to the movies as planned.
Making parents accountable will stop this for sure.

what a neighborhood. The dude speeding in the back in the black 2 door as you said it, and the homeless dude moving his shopping cart on the street. lol
Whose car was it? It was not insured???😮😮😮😮
do not gave that kid a license when he will turn the right age or else he will use this experience as a trophy, he will never be a good driver for life
Usually after something like this you get your driving privileges revoked and you don’t get a license back at the most he will have to wait until 30’s to actually get it but it’s not gonna stop him from driving
People not watching their kids and leaving the public to deal with them and fend for themselves. Hold the parents account if neglect is show !

All the main streets in the Valley are known for speed. Long straight streets 4 to 6 lanes wide and every young guy thinking they're Dom from Fast and the Furious. Need to start putting things like bollards or roundabouts or something to slow down drivers not just hope people "watch their speed".
Stupidly is definitely a factor
Did the Subway guy say a speed bump caused the accidents?
Always trying to blame something else besides the person responsible, the driver.
I think I heard him say "a bump" not "a speed bump."
@@dmotta2811tbf though it could be the reason the car got out of control and the driver being 15 probably went full speed into the bump and lost control and then being 15 either tried to drive away, it’s hard to say when there’s no video and even more vague information
I think officials should get after car manufacturers and limit speeds. Cars should only be capable of reaching top speeds if 70 m o h. Why make them go faster than what the law allows? Speed kills.
Yeah max 90 but not bad idea. Just that the gears have at that level have a lot power or capable of much power pass 100 mph. However trying to lessen it, would put the lower gears too much stress at high efficiency towards each. That the engine would break or won't last long. Just my opinion on engines. But I'm no expert.
It’s called a Governor and people would just have them removed even if it’s illegal. Cars can’t be made safe.

America. Seriously. You need to tighten and reform your laws on teenagers. The world is watching and your youth is more than way out of hand. They are careless, destructive and detrimental to society. You should have a citizens army training program for high school and teach them good old discipline and hard work.
They do have a military program but it’s not mandatory, most places the courts have more mercy on juveniles, Americas issues really is our children are inspired on the wrong things, like in Europe and Asia the kids are more focused on education, kids here are more focused side hustles and getting rich & famous, the education system is really lacking here and that’s honestly one of the huge factors of kids acting out in America aside from the fact we have an over abundance of single parent households
More check points ✌️
